Coloring Tips

Students with fine motor difficulties often find it hard to color within the lines. These sets of worksheets have borders which start out thick on the first page and become gradually thinner. Print several copies of the first page, then move on to the thinner borders after the thick one is mastered.

Teaching Tips

These sets of worksheets get progressively harder from the first page to the last. It is fairly easy for students to spot the correct color on the first page when it is mixed in with many black dots, but it is much harder when there are only 2 dots to choose from. If the student starts having problems, back up to an easier page. Work on one color at a time before introducing a new color.

Each of the thumbnails above represents a multi-paged set of cards or worksheets. You can either ask the student to point to a certain color, or for a beginning student you can print multiple sets of cards and cut them up for matching exercises.

Sample Matching Exercises:

  • Identical Color to Color (ex. match the plain red square to another plain red square)
  • Nonidentical Color to Color (ex. match the plain red square to the red line)
